Unknown Craftsman Tool - Band Saw ?

What is this?

What is this?

My son sent me this picture of a Craftsman tool thinking I might know what it is but it has me stumped. He was told by the owner of the warehouse he could take it if he likes but he doesn't know what he'd be taking. Any help would be appreciated.

Power hacksaw/ metal cutting bandsaw
by: Dick

In the early 1960s I worked in a machine shop (HP Hoods) outside of Boston. The had one of these (not sure if it was a Craftsman) we used to cut 1" steel rods as axels for material handling, milk container carts used in their various dispersing outlets.
If you don't want it I'd be glad to pay shipping to get it here. What I great machine to own.

Get it.

Tell your son to grab it. As previously stated, it is a metal cutting bandsaw and feeds itself through the metal. It is great for pipe and angle iron cutting. Wish I had the opportunity.

This is a metal-cutting bandsaw and not a woodworking tool

your sons tool

That is a metal cutting band saw- it uses it's own weight to feed the blade throuh the work(not a bad tool to have around).
