T-Handled Tomlinson

T-Handled Tomlinson

Found an old drawing knife with the the name Tomlinson on the blade. The blade is removable and adjustable (each screw has adjustment marks on it.) The knife is 19 inches overall while the blade is about 11 inches long. I would appreciate any information you could give me.

Hi,you have a Curriers shaving knife used in leather manufacturing. Before spliting machines were invented leather had to be reduced in thickness by the use of hand tools like these.

possible fleshing knife

Larry, this looks like a fleshing knife. Tomlinson had a 6 July 1820 patent for a fleshing knife used for scraping hides
