Sargent Plow Plane

This plane belonged to my wife's grandfather, who was a builder in the early teens into the forties. He completely built the house my mother-in-law was born an lived in there until she died a few years ago at age of 84. My wife found a box in the basement with this tool. She placed them in my shop. The other week I opened the box and over the last few days I cleaned it and have been trying to use the tool but I think I need a how to book or manual to learn the adjustments because I'm fast running out of scrap testing the various adjustment and blades. I would like to learn how to use this tool.

Could you give me some info.

The tool is a Sargent Plane plus attachments "D" "A-5" "E-5" "H-5, about 50 blades and small parts.
