Antique bandsaw
by: Anonymous

Hi I have a similar band saw in working condition which I am trying to find information on.
It has "Lewis&Lewis London " on the body of the frame.
The company made wood working machinery at an address in Fulham London England in the 1800’s.
Any information would be much appreciated.
Please email lorrainepeach@gmail.com
Thanks

Close relative!!!
by: Wayne

Hi Gary.

Hopefully I have your attention now?!?!?!? You see, I recently purchased an antique bandsaw and judging from the similarities, mine is either a parent or older sister. The spoke pattern of the wheels, the manual operation feature/third wheel and the names an integrated part of the mold.

My machine is "THE LION" and has no further identification marks anywhere on the casted frame. Even the name was part of the casting mold. One thing I have discovered is the pivot pin for the table . . . if removed it may have a year stamped into, as mine has been stamped but mostly removed from friction over the years.

If I could be so bold, would it be possible to get further photographs, with interest in the drive assemblies, showing the type of belts employed. If agreeable, please contact me via dwpowells@talktalk.net

I will be grateful for any assistance you can offer.

Victorian band saw .
by: spartyguss

Thanks for all your interest, would consider selling it one day.I have been told its a bespoke band saw made at the consett iron company by apprentice pattern makers and moulded at the consett works for queen victorias jubilee of 1897 amazing. What would a piece of history like this be worth to a collector. It has a plain drive belt pulley for it so I guess an engine would have drive it. I also think it may have been driven by hand as the large fly wheel has a handle hole in it.
Cheers all.
