Craftsman Band Saw Model 113.248440

by Gary Embrey
(Prairie Vill., KS, USA)

I have this older tilt head 12" Craftsman band saw and I'd like to know when it was manufactured.
I have heard that the date is in the serial number but I don't know how to be sure. The serial no. is: 89352.MO117.

Could you help?

Thanks,
Gary

Sears 113.248440 NEW
by: Bob Y

My saw serial number starts with 89 and I bought it in 1989 so that must be the year built. By the way, I have used mine for just about everything including re-sawing. With the right jigs this is a great little workhorse. I'm getting ready to move up to a 14 inch saw but will probably have access to this one if I want; it's going to my son.
Use only high quality blades and remove the tension if it won't be used for a few days.

I bought this same saw in the early 90's. It's the clunky one that the head tilts and I have the electronic read out (very high tech) for the day. I doubt very much that Emerson is still making this model for Sears anymore. I'm just saying.

Serial number for the 113.248440
by: Anonymous

Gary,

I bought my saw on July 20, 1990 amd I think the first numbers in the serial numbers are the year built. My serial number also starts with 89.
