Craftsman 13 or 14 inch Bandsaw, belt sander & aluminum oxide wheel circa 1935

by Glenn Brown
(Beaumont, TX)

I got these some 30 years ago from a friend who was cleaning out his grandfather's house. The grandfather made musical instruments back in the 20's, 30's & 40's. He had purchased these from a local Sears store and installed them in his attic workroom. They would still work fine, except I have never taken the time to clean them up. I did use the bandsaw for several years, but took the motor (an after-market)off it. The belt sander is a heavy cast iron affair with a 9 inch wheel and 6 inch belt. The aluminum oxide wheel was apparently used to sharpen gouges and chisels. It has a cast iron shroud and water tank. They are remarkably well made and if taken care of, would last forever.
