Black and Decker No: 2 Electric Hammer

Black and Decker No: 2 Electric Hammer

I have an old Black and Decker No 2 Electric Hammer. It is a well used older unit. When I found it, in the car wreckers, it needed a new power cable. I cleaned the unit and put on a new power cable. When I pushed the start button it worked. Unfortunately the Electric hammer does not seem to have enough power to work the electric hammer. It seems to be under powered.

The unit is a AC 110 3 amp unit. The motor, when I opened the case rotated freely (the brushes or blocks are both in good shape). I placed oil in the lower unit where the rotating hammer mechanism is housed (fill oil opening -Capped).

I am wondering if the power cable that I used is under sized for the motor or if the on/off switch is causing problems. I have to press the switch a couple of times to turn the unit on.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Pictures attached..

Thanks.

Stephen
