Antique Wheaton Plane
Antique Plane Info Sought
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I picked up this plane this weekend at a yardsale. When researching the name online I found this description on a tool sale site. "
A Panel Plane by A. Wheaton, Philad'a. Amos Wheaton was an early Philadelphia, PA. planemaker. He was listed in the 1793 and 1796 directories. He is rated three stars for rarity in American Wooden Planes. Three stars denotes very rare, only between 50 and 100 known examples."
Is this that rare? How do I determine a fair asking price as this way out of my area of knowledge.
Thanks for any help,
Howard Dennis
